Tall profile rails are designed to mount optics for use with High-tube AR Stock Adapters, or to mount accessories slightly away from the receiver when fastened to the AR Stock Adapter side accessory mount points. When used for optics, the elevation of the tall profile rails is similar to that of a flat top AR-15.
Mesa Tactical has long been a supplier of MIL-STD-1913 (NATO STANAG 4694) Picatinny rails for tactical shotguns. A Picatinny rail for mounting optics or sights is included with every Mesa Tactical High-tube Telescoping Stock Adapter Kit. Additional Picatinny rails are also available for mounting optics and accessories, such as lights and lasers.
All Mesa Tactical Picatinny rails adhere to the MIL-STD 1913 specification for firearm accessory rails. It is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, then bead blasted and Type III hard anodized for a rugged, flat black finish. Mesa Tactical Picatinny rails include all necessary mounting hardware.
The rail will fit on 18 inch Mossberg 500 and 20 inch Mossberg 590, but it will not work on the 18 inch Mossberg 590. The problem with the 18 inch Mossberg 590 is the barrel ring interferes with the clamp.
Adapter Mount Picatinny Rails fasten to the accessory mount points on the sides of Mesa Tactical High-tube telescoping stock adapters, not on the shotgun receiver. They can also be used on the sides of our Barrel Clamps, Magazine Clamps and clamps used as front mount points for 20 inch and 24 inch rails, which feature the same mounting hole pattern as our stock adapters; or our Picatinny rails for the Kel-Tec KSG shotgun.
Standard profile rails like the Stubby adhere to the minimum height requirement of the MIL-STD-1913 specification, and should not be used for mounting optics with the High-tube AR stock adapters.

Warning: If you do not already have a Mesa Tactical AR Stock Adapter or Barrel Clamp system installed on your shotgun, this Picatinny rail CANNOT be used. Mesa Tactical does produce a more general purpose line of Picatinny Rails for other applications.
