Duck and Cover!

When planning your Airsoft load out everyone thinks about the essentials first, Facepro, weapons and Mags. More experienced players will make sure their tools and equipment are strategically placed in order to maximize efficiency. But there are two pieces of equipment that don't get nearly enough appreciation in my humble opinion. The often underappreciated and seldom mentioned set of Knee and elbow pads.
Airsoft is pretty simple. Shoot the other guy more often than he shoots you. The right guns help you shoot more. The right movement patters and use of cover help you get shot less. And every Airsofter soon find out that when moving across a map, the lower you can stay, the less likely you are to be seen...and therefore shot.
Picture if you will, a hectic game of capture the flag at your favourite indoor field.
You're crouched behind some cover at the base of a tower maybe 2 meters from the dropped flag. You lean a hair to the left to peek out of cover...and you smack your knee into the unforgiving floor...Should have brought some knee pads
Later, you and your squad are defending your mansion from the second floor balcony. it's a pressure cooker where anyone that rises above the railing gets instantly lit up. You're crawling on all fours to get to one of peepholes at ground level. The plywood floor bites at your limbs and as your prop your rifle up on your elbows for a shot you can't help but feel the irritating pinpricks of the floor on your joints...Should have gotten some elbow bads too

In this visit to our friendly neighbourhood surplus store I was focused on obtaining some quality joint protection, and there were plenty of options to keep me occupied.
I think my hardest decision was whether or not to get a set of BDU's with Integrated pads or to get a removable set...In the end I got both. Some awesome pants from Shadow Strategic, An essential Combat shirt from SGS, and a removable set from Matrix for those unscheduled pickup games. I can't wait to try them out.
