Canadian Armed Forces Late 1980's Experimental Prototype P1 Helmet, the Canadian Armed Forces in the 1980's began to experiment with variety of composite helmet from different countries as a way to find a adopt a new service helmet for the Canadian Armed Forces, these experiment are carry out in phases from phase I to phase V, moving forward 1988 the Barrday P1 helmet saw limited production of 3,625 made in total for ballistic, engineering, user trial, however during the trials the helmet provided excellent ballistic protection, however the short coming to the P1 design was a failure to withstand ballistics impact during test and the result of the foam padding falling off but regardless the P1 was issued to troops and troops in Bosnia and Canadian UN peacekeeping contingents in Somalia.
