This newer version of Radiac Detector is used to measure the accumulated neutron and Gamma Radiation dose absorbed by the Radiac Detector. The wrist dosimeter is worn by personnel, who may be exposed to radiation from tactical nuclear weapons. The characteristics are: allows radiation monitoring of individual personnel, it provides accurate readings for extended periods of time after exposure, it is maintenance free and lightweight.
The sensing element is a single 1/2" x 7/16" radiophotoluminescent glass block positioned in the center of the holder. To determine the dose, the glass block is removed from the holder and exposed to near ultraviolet radiation in a reader (e.g., the Radiac Computer-indicator CP-95). The result is that the glass emits light, the intensity of which is proportional to the radiation exposure. The reader measures the intensity of the emitted light and converts this into an exposure in roentgen. Note the circular lead filter with the central pinhole for flattening the energy response. The item is 1-1/2" in diameter by 3/8" thick and weighs 0.7 of an ounce. The Dose Range is up to 600 R and the minimum detectable dose is 10 R. Energy range is 80 to 1500 keV photons with an accuracy of +/-20%. These are in original military packaging. Others are selling these for a lot more. Get ours at a small percentage of their price.
