Carl Zeiss is known for delivering cutting-edge optics technology, most of his manufacturing techniques are still in use today and bare his name. These armored 8x30 binoculars were manufactured between 1959-1963. When these binoculars were available to the Bundeswehr, demand was very high because of the excellent optical quality and very high resolution, a Zeiss trademark.
