Military Issue Type 63 SKS Chest Rig

As suggested in the photo above, with minor modification this makes an excellent, low cost chest rig for M16/M4/STANAG magazines -- I would not use this for AK-type magazines; buy a purpose-built chicom AK rig instead. The SKS rig holds five single M4 magazines plus two small side pouches for single grenades, small Polish pressure bandages etc. Instead of using shock cord loops, either shift the existing toggles towards the top edge of the front face (about 1 cm below the edge tape) of the five central pouches or add five toggles. That way the flaps will cover an M4 magazine in each of the five pouches and open silently. Height of the rig on your body varies with the length of the two adjustable cross-straps, so it is very flexible, and it secures against flopping while moving by either tying the tie-tapes or adding a side release buckle for ease of donning/doffing. A simple, bombproof solution and CHEAP for what it does.
